About Sang Y. Kim, RD
Growing up I was raised mostly by my beloved grandmother who happened to wear dentures. At first, I didn't understand why she would leave her dentures out most of the time. It shocked me when I first saw her eating without any teeth during one dinner. She often shied away from meeting people and smiling broadly in front of others in public.
When Platinum Denture Clinic first opened its doors to the community, I made a commitment to myself to focus on two key things: Comfort & Esthetics.
I continue to take pride in using the very best materials and techniques available so that I can offer patients something better than a standard denture. With the aid of implants, a removable prosthesis can truly be perfected to make you feel almost like you have healthy natural teeth.

FAQs
> Does everyone lose teeth as they age?
There are many reasons people lose their adult teeth, though aging alone is not responsible. Complications from gum disease and other oral health problems make losing teeth more likely. Teeth and gums weaken over time if they are not properly treated and maintained. Proper oral hygiene practices and a healthy diet will reduce the possibility of losing teeth even as you age.
> How do I know if I need full or partial dentures?
We can help determine which type of dentures will be best for your situation.
> What is it like adjusting to dentures?
Having new teeth takes a lot of adjusting. Everything from eating to speaking will feel totally different. Most patients take a few weeks to feel comfortable with their new dentures. Just take things one day at a time and you’ll be used to your new dentures in no time.
One of the biggest issues will be accidentally biting your tongue or cheeks. Remember to take it slow with dentures. Practice speaking in front of a mirror, make meals with soft foods to get accustomed to chewing, and remember to keep wearing them. If you take out your dentures because they are uncomfortable, you may never get used to them.
> Aren't dentures just a cosmetic choice?
No, though they will improve the appearance of your mouth. Dentures restore your ability to properly chew food and speak correctly. They may also provide additional support to your face, keeping your cheeks and lips from appearing sunken in.
> What are the benefits to dentures?
Dentures will help you to chew and speak by replacing your missing teeth. As the bones shrink and gums degrade, the rest of your mouth will undergo changes. Dentures will help restore balance and function of the oral cavity.
> Are there any downsides to dentures?
For some patients, dentures are uncomfortable and hard to maintain. For more permanent and stable solution, please ask us about implants.
